PHOTO EXHIBITION. ALGERIAN CHRONICLES

MONDAY 27 SEPTEMBER I OCTUBRE.C.C.C I 19: 00H

Algeria is a vast country, little known to the Western public and sometimes to its own inhabitants. It is a multicultural society, a land of contrasts and endless paradoxes. But above all, Algeria is defined by the resistance of its people. For the artists of the Collectif220, photography has proven to be the means capable of nourishing this Algerian collective visual memory, but also a language that allows us to transcend barriers and borders to reach out to others by observing daily life and revolts. and the suffering of Algerians.

Collective220 was born in 2015 from the need to create a space for reflection, exchange and common work, free from cultural institutions. The photographers of Collectif220 defend a contemporary vision of their land, an approach to the reality of their people, without losing sight of the Maghreb and African reality of Algeria.

DEBATS VIUS DEL MEDITERRANI
Understanding does not prevent judging, judging does not prevent understanding “,
Edgar Morin.
Providing a space exclusively dedicated to reflection within the framework of a cultural encounter is not only necessary, but also perfectly complements the rest of the program of the Mostra Viva del Mediterrani. A space where judgment is always linked to understanding, conversation, meeting and understanding. A space for the academic sphere, for the artistic sphere, for all spheres.
Les Débats Vivants de la Méditerranée tackles the most burning issues, concept of the Mediterranean and its most significant events.
Alongside these discussion spaces, small-scale performances are offered by young artists who are starting their professional careers.

WRITER’S MEETING

“L’Encontre d’Escriptors i Escriptores del Mediterrani” which falls within the framework of Mostra Viva, aims to carry out cultural actions aimed at promoting reading and meeting between authors and their public, to give visibility to Valencian and Mediterranean creation and to facilitate exchanges and mobility in the Mediterranean. Reading and writing are supplemented by storytelling. Passing on stories, tales, legends or anecdotes has always been something inherent in human beings through the ages. Stories that come to life by being told and heard. Stories that belong to a collective heritage, sometimes thousands of years old.

THE PARLIAMENTARY
ASSEMBLY OF THE
MEDITERRANEAN
3-4 June 2021
Executive Report

Mr. Vicente Miguel Garcés Ramón, President of the Mediterranean Citizens’
Assembly Foundation (MCAF), stressed the need for urgent multilateralism in the
response to the COVID pandemic. He referred to the major conflicts continuing in the region, e.g. Western Sahara, the Middle East, and the many questions remaining in
Syria and Libya. He pointed at the pivotal role of civil society, as the rights of citizens
and their socio-economic conditions were declining with rampant abuses against women, minors, or minorities and the most vulnerable, and with climate change causing
drought and hunger. One clear message was that vaccines need to be a public good. The
MCAF called on the EU to play a more political role to protect fundamental rights and
show initiatives, act in line with EU principles, and pave the way forward for migration,
making use of new digital technologies, and taking the needs of all citizens into account.
He encouraged PAM to build bridges with cities and to establish a dialogue with civil
society and the citizens in the Mediterranean region.

FACM statement on Tunisia

0

27.7.2021
The situation in Tunisia is critical. The problem is the reading -inconsistent with the text and the spirit of the Constitution- that the President of the Republic has been doing for months now. His latest decisions do not at all respect the article of the Constitution relating to exceptional circumstances (Art. 80), in particular the condition of consulting the Constitutional Court and the obligation to keep Parliament in permanent session (it decided the contrary by suspending its work and its powers). So if it is not an extreme violation of legality (coup d’état) how to qualify it otherwise?
The FACM calls for an urgent return to normality, legality and the application of the Constitution within the framework of the commitment to the democratic, citizen and popular process initiated in 2011.
